Hello, I’m Anel (she/her)! I am a Master of Social Work graduate student at Laurier University. I’m also a Registered Nurse with nearly a decade of experience working with people living with mental health disorders, addictions, burnout, perinatal and postnatal health conditions. I have supported clients going through loss, bereavement, life transitions and stressors, faith, spiritual and cross-cultural conflict. I am dedicated to helping clients in overcoming emotional challenges, establishing healthier behaviours and ways of thinking so that you can feel more fulfilled with the quality of your life and relationships. I recognize the challenges of trauma, identity and community within families, relationships and across cultures. As a Somali-Canadian, Muslim woman, I understand the complexity and nuance of living between multiple cultural and faith-based identities. My life/work are shaped by the challenge of reconciling these conflicts to find belonging and identity. My passion is in helping you overcome emotional challenges and build healthier behaviors, so you can achieve a more fulfilling life and richer relationships. If you’d like to learn more, I invite you to look through my bio. I’m excited to work with you and encourage you to reach out for a free consultation through the website.
