
Derrick is a corporate associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and corporate and securities matters. He has worked on a wide range of transactions, including domestic and cross-border acquisitions, private equity transactions, divestitures, takeover defense, shareholder activism, proxy contests and more. Derrick received his B.A. in Political Science from Morehouse College, where he graduated summa cum laude, valedictorian of his class, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. At Morehouse, Derrick was Gates Millennium Scholar, Coca-Cola Scholar, GE-Reagan Scholar, and a Truman and Rhodes Scholar Finalist. Derrick received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was a member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau and Harvard Defenders. At Harvard, Derrick was also selected as a NAACP Legal Defense Fund Scholar and National Bar Association: Gateway to Success Scholar. Derrick served as a law clerk to the Honorable Raymond J. Lohier, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and as a judicial extern to the Honorable Duane Benton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
