When we are struggling to manage life challenges, our ability to cope can become strained. Such stressors can affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in unhealthy ways. They can also show up as frustration, irritability, and/or anger. Exploring relevant past experiences, with skillful therapeutic interventions, I support individuals, couples, and families to understand what is happening for them in the present. Believing that the client is the expert in their lives, I also help people to develop care plans intended to challenge unhelpful ways of functioning in their world while restoring feelings of happiness and hopefulness. I have extensive experience offering counseling support, psychoeducation, and advocacy to people navigating complex systems in education, health, criminal justice, family law, and child welfare. I also support individuals in the perinatal period to cope with challenging pregnancies, perinatal loss/bereavement, and/or mood disorders with compassion. My calm and disarming nature permits people to feel comfortable discussing their life stories with openness and non-judgment. As your therapist, I will support you to discover new pathways to happiness through a relationship built on trust, cultural sensitivity, and respect.
