Hello! My name is Kalyn! I am a first-generation college student. I am aiming to remove barriers about mental health within the African American community. What brought me into Social Work was personal experiences and actually making a difference within my community. I had to overcome many obstacles and struggles in order to support my family. A lot of my work experience has been supporting individuals and families; primarily teens, adults and families and I really enjoy it. I also enjoy working, supporting and empowering those who identify as being part of a marginalized group or ethnic background. This means that therapy can be a place for hard conversations just as much as laughter and joy. It’s so important to recognize that you don’t have to go through this alone. The fact that you’ve taken the step to share your story shows immense strength. When you’re ready, I’m here to listen and help you explore what healing might look like for you.
