Stephen King

Stephen King is a seasoned trial lawyer who has tried over 100 jury trials to verdict with an unparalleled record of victories. He is the Founder of Kings Justice Law, APC, and Co-Founder of Creary, Fletcher & King, Trial Lawyers for The People, where he serves as the Principal Trial Lawyer. Stephen’s legal practice is primarily focused on cases involving civil rights violations, personal injury, wrongful death, and workplace discrimination. Stephen has obtained substantial money verdicts and settlements for his clients and continues to do so. Stephen served as lead trial lawyer on a team of lawyers that obtained a record-setting $40 million non-economic wrongful death verdict in Riverside County in 2015. As recent as 2024, Stephen was part of an attorney fees settlement and award of over $4 million against the County of Orange for civil rights violations which were proven at trial. Stephen has been successful in actions against other governmental entities as well such as the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. In 2015, Stephen obtained a $1.1 million verdict against the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for employment and workplace related violations and yet another record-setting $3.1 million verdict against the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services in 2016 for constitutional violations. Stephen continues to be successful in gaining favorable settlements for his clients including a 2023 settlement of $3 million in a wrongful death case against the Los Angeles Sherriff’s Department. Stephen is also a trial instructor and a community leader. He teaches and shares his knowledge of trial techniques with plaintiff trial lawyers from all over the country at the world renown Gerry Spence Method program in DuBois, Wyoming. Stephen served as the President of the John M. Langston Bar Association in 2023, the largest and most influential African American bar association in Southern California and currently serves on the executive board of the California Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) as its Vice-President South. Stephen additionally serves on the executive board of the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charity Association, a non-profit organization committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need throughout Southern California. Stephen King’s commitment to excellence in the legal field has also extended to his membership in the prestigious Melvin Belli Society as well as the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Stephen is consistently at the forefront of civil rights and community advocacy. Following the 2025 Eaton Fire, he took swift action, co-founding the LA Lawyers for the People Alliance, a coalition dedicated to supporting recovery efforts and standing in solidarity with the fire-ravaged community of Altadena, CA. The Alliance operates on the principle that ‘justice is the true bridge to peace in the community.’
